Undisliking Art

This experience is:
for 1 person
less than 1 hour long
aesthetic, psychological

  1. Go to a museum and walk around until you find the piece of art that you dislike.
  2. Critique the artwork completely. Come up with everything you can in order to explain your dislike. Condense your dislike into a single statement.
  3. Clear your mind of the critique and remember that someone must like it for it to be here.
  4. Look at the artwork from the point of view of the person who you imagine liking it. Do everything you can to appreciate it in their way. Take on the character of someone who likes that artwork, but you must be convincing enough that your pleasure or appreciation of the work is felt as real.
